THE REGATTA

EVENT INFORMATION

Enjoy a weekend of sailing and socialising at the Clermont Outback Sailing Regatta.

DATE – Friday, 31 July, Saturday, 1 August & Sunday, 2 August 2025

LOCATION – Theresa Creek Water Sports Club, Theresa Creek Dam, Clermont

ENTRY FEE INCLUDES – Entry into two-day regatta (Saturday and Sunday)

CATEGORIES 

Division 1 – Open Monohulls
Division 2 – Open Catamarans (including Weta Trimarans)
Division 3 – Intermediates – Australian Sailing Yardstick >120
(e.g Laser 4.7, Corsair without kite, Flying 11, RS Feva)
Division 4 – Juniors- Optimists, Sabots and Open Bics
Division 5 – Junior Green fleet
 
Our feature race is the Outback Marathon, and prizes are awarded to junior and senior winners of the marathon.

Online entries close on Saturday 8 am.  Fees must be paid online (surcharges apply)

Free camping is available for competitors & their families at the Theresa Creek Water Sports Club along the bank of the Theresa Creek Dam. 

THE OUTBACK MARATHON

Experience the outback – venture inland to Clermont and put your skills to the test in the unique Outback Marathon – a challenging race covering the length and breadth of the scenic Theresa Creek Dam.

The marathon event is open to all classes and will be held Sunday Morning August 2,  2025.

LEARN TO SAIL - CHILDREN & YOUTH

TACKERS LEARN TO SAIL SESSIONS (1.5-2 hrs)

Saturday afternoon tackers

1ST August from 3:30 to 5:30

Tackers intro is a sailing program for primary school students (6 – 12 years) held at the sheltered waters of the Theresa Creek Dam.

  • Make new friends
  • Learn water safety and confidence
  • basic boat handling skills
  • all in a fun games-based environment.
  • no experience needed.
  • all equipment including boats included.
  • numbers are limited and bookings are essential.

All sessions conducted by experienced qualified Australian Sailing instructors.

OUT THERE SAILING EXPERIENCE

Saturday Out There Sailing Experience

1ST August from 3:30 to 5:30

Out There Sailing Experience is a sailing program for those aged 12-17 years, held at the Theresa Creek Dam.

The experience sessions are all about having fun and getting a taste for various on-water activities.

  • Make new friends
  • Learn water safety and confidence
  • basic boat handling skills
  • all in a fun games-based environment.
  • no experience needed.
  • all equipment including boats provided.
  • numbers are limited and bookings are essential.

All sessions conducted by experienced qualified Australian Sailing instructors.

COOKING AND ENTERTAINMENT

 

On Friday night, we’re inviting the community to come out and meet all our competitors.

We’re hosting a BBQ with live music at the main campsite.

It’s the perfect opportunity to connect, enjoy great food, and capture some memorable photo opportunities.

As for the weekend meals, here’s what you can expect:

 

  • Saturday: Breakfast at the ski club.  Lunches available from kiosk, or food vans at the market stalls up at the main camping ground.  Dinner will be provided at the ski club. 

 

  • Sunday: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the ski club, and then enjoy a delicious lunch later on followed by presentations.

THE IDYLLIC THERESA CREEK DAM

This event celebrates adventure, camaraderie and the timeless traditions of the outback at an unforgettable scenic location.

During the regatta, expect to experience the morning chorus of birdlife, the flavours of camp oven cooking, the warmth of open camp fires, a night time blanket of stars stretching to eternity, and the soothing serenity of the outback.

Whether you’re an experienced sailor or new to sailing, the regatta offers competitions and activities for all skill levels and all ages.

Connect with fellow sailors, share stories, enjoy the spectacle and forge friendships in a vibrant social atmosphere.

The Clermont Outback Sailing Regatta is an initiative of the Clermont Community Business Group and is hosted by the Theresa Creek Water Sports Club and Keppel Bay Sailing Club.

One of the most idyllic camping spots in The Isaac Region, Theresa Creek Dam offers camping, fishing & watersports.  Pitch your tent, pull up your caravan or camping trailer and make Theresa Creek Dam campground your base to explore the region.

Theresa Creek Dam is located 22km south west of Clermont in Central Queensland, built in 1983 and situated on 300 hectares.

Facilities at the dam include shaded picnic tables, BBQ’s, playground, swimming areas, food kiosk, 6 x 6 camping shelters, showers and toilet.
